Birthright offers free life affirming attention to any woman who is distressed by pregnancy. CACS is an accredited mental health, addiction and child welfare placement agency. The CACS Central Teen Court program is the identified juvenile diversion program for the 6th Judicial Circuit. CACS serves children, adults, seniors and families.

The Capital Area United Way is an independent, non-profit entity designed to help our community meet its health and human care needs. Central South Dakota Child Assessment Center
As a department of Avera St. Mary’s Hospital and partner agency to Capital Area United Way, Central South Dakota Child Assessment Center’s mission is to provide a strong, multidisciplinary team approach in order to better serve children who are alleged victims of child abuse or neglect. Services, including a child forensic interview and comprehensive head-to-toe physical, are provided regardless of ability to pay.

Dakota Horse Stars Therapeutic Riding Center
Dakota Horse Stars Therapeutic Riding Center provides equine assisted acitvities for individuals with any kind of challenge or struggle in life. Children and Adults are encouraged to use the intuitive nature of the horse to help them address life's challenges.The benefits seen are many and varied. Feeding South Dakota
Feeding South Dakota, whose mission is to eliminate hunger in South Dakota, is the state’s largest charitable hunger relief organization. In FY16, Feeding South Dakota secured and distributed over 13.5 million pounds of quality nutritious donated and purchased food providing 11.3 million meals to more than 190,000 individuals in need. Feeding South Dakota is able to distribute this food from our distribution centers in Sioux Falls, Pierre and Rapid City through its network of over 350 charitable organizations across the state. These organizations then provide this food to individuals who are “food insecure” through youth programs, senior centers, on-site feeding programs, emergency food pantries, after school programs, and homeless shelters.

Growing Up Together
Growing Up Together provides family support by offering prenatal education, breastfeeding classes and Common Sense Parenting classes. Confidential and free services for pregnant or parenting teens are also available. No one is turned away because of inability to pay program fees. BankWest Chairman Charles Burke II was a life-long philanthropist who envisioned the long-term benefit of creating a flexible and inexpensive tool to help individuals and businesses fulfill philanthropic aspirations. Under his direction, the Oahe Foundation was established in 1984 as a non-profit 501(c)(3) foundation.
To create a charitable fund in your name or in the name of a loved one, you simply identify a charitable purpose, provide a gift of at least $500, and draft a letter of direction for your fund. Professional administration of the fund is provided at the low cost of 60 cents annually per $100 (.60%). Oahe Child Development Center
Early Head Start/Head Start provides educational, nutritional, health and family services to pregnant women, children and their families. The program offers: Center Base Preschool, Home Base Home Visit Program, Center/Home Base Combination.
Oahe Child Development Center Head Start/Early Head Start is a FREE program to all eligible children and families. To be eligible for Head Start and Early Head Start services children must be age and income eligible. We are also able to accept a small number of families who are over income. Parents Matter Coalition of Pierre -Fort Pierre
Parents Matter is a group of concerned individuals comprised of parents, youth, community leaders, law enforcement, counselors, judicial advocates, business people, media representatives, and others who care about the well-being of our youth. Pierre and Fort Pierre have named underage drinking as the number one health concern in our cities and counties.
The Parents Matter Coalition, through volunteers, is committed to preventing underage drinking and drug abuse through education of parents, youth and community.

Pierre Area Referral Service
Through the auspices of the Citizens Involvement Council, Pierre Area Referral Service (PARS) began as a legal aid program in 1974. Since then it has expanded to include information and referral services to callers from Hughes and Stanley Counties and from across the states. PARS also provides emergency assistance to income eligible individuals as well as other programming that is available to all income groups. Currently the agency administers the Pierre/Ft. Pierre Food Pantry, Holiday Food Program, Legal Aide~ through Dakota Plains Legal Services, Emergency Assistance Program, BackPack Food Program, Basic Budgeting Classes, and Information & Referral Services. Pierre Area Referral Service is also the local Salvation Army Service Unit for Hughes and Stanley County.

The South Dakota Community Foundation is a philanthropic resource for South Dakota. Since 1987, the South Dakota Community Foundation has helped people reach their philanthropic goals and strengthened communities across the state. We work with donors, nonprofit organizations, and communities across South Dakota to procure dollars invest and grow those dollars and make them available to support charitable causes that important to all of us. The SDCF administers approximately $235 million in total assets for over 760 funds. By commingling endowed assets, the SDCF gives its partners enhanced investment opportunities that provide long-term support to charitable causes. In 2015, the SDCF distributed more than $11.9 million in grants from all funds.

South Dakota Discovery Center
The SD Discovery Center is a hands-on science center dedicated to creating curious children, inspired educators and motivated citizens that seek scientific knowledge and value a healthy environment. Our mission is to provide South Dakotans a continuum of science opportunities that spark exploration and new discovery at every age level. This is accomplished through science camps and workshops for youth, our hands-on exhibit hall, leadership and volunteer opportunities for teens, traveling science programs, teacher professional development, pre-service teacher training and mentoring. The South Dakota Discovery Center is home to the Environmental Education Center of South Dakota.
